A pleasantness intertwined with pain or regret.
Friday morning is here and we are alive and breathing Champions!
Oh the possibilities that a new day brings to be the change that this world so desperately needs. Not because of who we are but because of who lives in us!
Bittersweet is what was placed on my spirit this morning. Something that can be both pleasant and painful. I really gave this some thought this morning. I suppose you could go in many different directions with this morning's topic. I actually landed on applying God's word to our lives. I can only speak from my perspective because I don't know how his word resonates with anyone else. I do know as I read my bible, study, and make application to my life...bittersweet is often a word I can relate to. Possibly you can as well? You see, I search the scripture for guidance and direction and then...Bam! God hits me right between the eyes with the complete package. Let me break it down. I often look to God's word for clarity or to make sense out of life circumstances and what I'm currently going through. Being very transparent, (sometimes) looking for God to take my side and say, " You're right." Here's the kicker...The word of God when allowed to penetrate my heart also brings correction. Ouch! Yep, some of my best learning experiences is when I go into his word with an agenda, stay with me...because that's when he let's me know quickly, that it's not all about me and I need to listen for a moment. Don't get me wrong, I've had some great arguments with my Heavenly Father. I am so grateful he is patient with me. Interestingly enough, those debates I have with him, strengthened my relationship with him. The ending result is typically something needs to change within me. Another ouch! So yes, God's word is bittersweet. It has many, many promises to claim that are so pleasant and yet can be bittersweet if we acknowledge that change just might be required within us to receive those promises. Today, I'm going to be thankful for the correction that his word has brought into my life. I pray you will be as well for your life. After all, if we don't change, we don't grow! Stretch and grow stronger today Champions!
And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter.
