Obedience...

Submission to another's authority. Being respectful and honoring the instructions given to you.

Happy Friday beautiful people!

This morning's topic can be a bit difficult to adhere to if we don't believe in our hearts that the one we choose to obey is worth listening to. Just might make you say "ouch" outloud?

I suppose by nature we can agree for the most part...

that we want>

what we want...when we want...and the way we want it? That may not leave a ton of room for walking in obedience? We are given commands each day. Could Be at work, school, home? However, we are the ones that ultimately decide if we will be obedient to those commands.

This morning, my mind went to the commands given to us by our Creator, by Almighty God. To be totally transparent, I had to pause and ask God for forgiveness in a few areas of my life this morning.

Why do you think it's so hard for us to listen, to walk in obedience daily? You don't have to answer that out loud, just think about it. Each one of us will have our own reasoning to try and justify or make sense out of the aforementioned question.

For me, I will try to answer the question as real and simple as I can. I want to do things my way. Wow! I just said that totally outloud!

Here's the thing that stings...I have come to realize that my way, isn't always the best way. Now, when it lines up with God's way it is an awesome thing. However, when I make decisions that I know aren't obedient to what God wants me to do...they typically turn out not so awesome. I love the line in that old hymn...

Trust and obey, for there's no other way, to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Boy, let those words resonate for a moment!

Breaking it down really basic to close this morning...

When you love God you trust him. He loves each one of us with a love that is

A verb. It's love in action. When he gives a command, he is certainly worth listening to. Champions, trust and obey as you go about this amazing Friday full of promise!

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
