Quit Reverting...

To stop returning to a previous state that you have surpassed. Making a conscious decision and deciding not to backslide into situations that you have outgrown and learned from.

As the sun peeks over the horizon this morning, it is well with my soul. My mind is intrigued by just how easy it is to revert backwards if we aren't careful. I work in an industry where I see on a daily basis people excelling, learning and growing today...then bam! Tomorrow comes and they seem to have taken two steps backwards. I suppose there have been times in my life's journey where I have did that two step reversal myself? So I had to scratch my head this morning and ask myself, " why do we ( including myself here) allow ourselves to shrink backwards in certain situations?"

What came to me was this...look around at your circle. Are you growing in a positive direction in your life, moving forward? You see, I think sometimes we allow ourselves to shrink backwards because we are comfortable with our circle of influence. I've reached a place in my life where growing and maturing is something I crave. Don't get me wrong, it takes work.

I once heard, if you're the smartest person in the room...move to another room.

Here's the thing, search for those that challenge you to be better, greater, and stronger. Look for friends that are grounded in God's word. The ones that cheer you on when you need it most but will sit quietly by your side when words aren't needed. Those precious gifts that are both honest and compassionate with you when you need advice. Champions, we are called to come out amongst them and be separate. God didn't give us a spirit that should be extinguished. Our spirit should be blazing and contagious. So, shrinking isn't an option. Break those chains holding you back and walk today in boldness with Jesus!
